Ok, I've built the CD and tested it myself now. Interestingly enough that image turns out to be a quite different version to what I have been testing with - it's linux 2.4.0-test8 as opposed to 2.4.5, and doesn't use the ecos bootloader.

The CD does boot correctly on the dreamcast, so it's rather nicely exposed a bug or two somewhere which I'll be looking into now...[0]

[0] It's a great bug... it oopses with both the translator and emulator cores, but they generate completely different oopses...

Fixed in the subversion trunk - boots now but keyboard doesn't work for me. It looks like the keyboard driver in that kernel image is doing something dodgy - I'll need to test it against the real hardware to see what it's expecting.

the only place i found for getting dclinux-010605 is
someone uploaded it on rapidshare (furthermore the post is quite recent, eg 2007). i couldn't get the file from rapidshare. i'm unfortunately not familiar enough with news group to post a message and ask people to re-upload it :S

in fact the rapidshare link (this is the one from the previous post) does work, it was just a bit painful to get the file. i found another link, the second one, which is the one i suggest to download from. indeed, both archives contain the exact same files, which are byte-identical (checked md5 sums).

however, dclinux.cdi inside the archive won't boot on lxdream. there is a workaround : extract the iso track from it using cdirip (the one in BootDreams runs fine through wine), and then simply burn it the same way as lc2000.iso. this time, it will boot in lxdream. there's the ecos bootloader, and it gets to the exact same screen as the one posted in the news (it took some time though ). afterwards i played with X, having some problems with the keyboard (no digits, and so on...).
